The Blacktip 42

The Blacktip 42 is perfect. I like a bigger watch but not so big it flashes. That’s where the BT42 comes in. And anytime I deal with Tim and Monterey Watch Company it’s so easy and smooth.

with a headline like that you may wonder why this only gets 3 stars. first, this is the ultimate dive watch except for the 100meter depth, which is fine with me and was what the first skin dive watches actually were. this is the most beautifully designed dive or skin dive watch i've ever seen, and i've spent 30yrs restoring dive and military watches professionally. the domes/cambered crystal is stunning classic. the bezel is smoooth and no alignment issues. the case is basically an SKX style except with a centered guardless crown, which i prefer to the SKX because of its classic 007 look. then why the knock of 2 stars? sadly, when the bracelet was installed there were some very small nicks on each side where it was laid in, right on the edge of the lug. not enough for me to return it, but i had to spend $20 to get some flitz and polywatch, both of which i've used with microfiber cloths to hand polish small nicks/scratches out. but that's another hour of my life where it shouldn't be. and no, i don't want to use a dremel and end up flattening out the lug edge. i restore for a living so i know what needs to be done. second star deduction is for basically undetectable (except slightly) lume on the hands. with those, i can find some on the internet to replace, but again, a hassle. c'mon guys, this is an amazing watch, don't sabotage it! customers notice. Another great piece from Monterey! My new favorite! Got mine with the minute slash bezel. Has almost a villainous look to it! Not for the faint of heart! First thing you notice is the deep setting of the dial. Combined with it's weight, the 21mm lug width and 42mm case, it has an absolute presence! Really great timepiece!!!
