The Dealer’s Secret: Hitting the Jackpot with the "Casino" Caseback
Share
Howdy, watch family! Pull up a chair and let’s talk about a little secret hiding on the flip side of one of our favorite timepieces. We love a good story behind a watch, and the tale of the Croupier’s caseback is one we are incredibly excited to finally share with you all. This watch was difficult to get to the finish line...but here's one of the cooler parts of the tale.
Some of you long-time folks might remember our original dress model, the Casino. Let us tell you, in our opinion, that was just about the absolute coolest name we ever dreamed up. The word alone set a mood. It elicited a feeling of pure, unadulterated style. It felt smooth as glass. Strapping it on brought up images of warm, electric evenings, the clinking of ice in a glass, playing your cards right, and the sweet, undeniable feeling of success.
Another martini, Mr. Bond?
But as all great things must evolve, we eventually ended the Casino run. As we transitioned from a more tribute-focused model into our own completely original design language, we realized that such a bold new aesthetic necessitated a brand new name to match. We took the soul of what we loved about that gorgeous dress watch, gave it a fresh, sharp new spin, and re-imagined it as the Croupier. After all, the Croupier is the one in the Casino at the baccarat table running the game and dealing the cards!
Now, here’s where the fun really begins. We kicked off the Croupier era with a highly exclusive first batch of just 100 pieces. We wanted to do something wonderfully special for the lucky folks who got in early. We wanted a "transition marker" to bridge the gap between our beloved original dress piece and this brilliant new chapter. We wanted a clever way to identify this very first batch so the lucky buyer would know, without a shadow of a doubt, that they had something truly rare.

So, we did it entirely on purpose: we proudly stamped the word "casino" right there on the caseback of these first 100 Croupiers.
If you manage to get your hands on one, you’ll know you’ve scored an original "Casino caseback" edition. It’s a wink to our history and a hidden gem just for the wearer.
If you look back through the wild and colorful history of watchmaking, it’s exactly these kinds of unique, intentional quirks that turn beautiful watches into legendary collector's items. Think about the iconic Omega Speedmaster "Dot Over 90" (DON) bezels, where the tiny placement of a single dot drives collectors wild. Think about the legendary "Double Red" text on early Rolex Sea-Dwellers, or the highly sought-after "Flat 4" on the bezel of the early 50th Anniversary Rolex Kermits.
Not gonna lie, we love clever marketing.
Those tiny, unique identifiers are the secret handshakes of the watch world. That’s exactly the kind of exciting, collector-worthy magic we wanted to bake right into the DNA of this limited run.
We always say around here at Monterey Watch Co., "If you're good, we're good." And if you're wearing one of these 100 transition pieces, knowing the secret hiding against your wrist... well, you’re doing more than just good. You're holding a piece of history!
Stay colorful and catch you next time,
Nathan
