I got the watch at a good price so I figured I'd give it a shot. I have a bunch of sub $500 watches but this one really impresses. Movement is smooth and seems to have a bunch of actual reserve on hand. Magnifier actually works well and rest of the face is well done. Micro adjustment and rest of the band is well made as well. Overall 5 stars for the money.
The new 2025 blacktop standard is in my opinion just right from it’s 40mm case diameter, sword hands, and solid bracelet with on the fly adjustment. Areas for improvement are corners of clasp are super sharp, rounded them with a file, and lume could last longer. With that said, stoked on my Monty!
This watch is beautiful!
It wears a little larger than other Monty pieces I own with the same specs, which works great with a simple black dial and black bezel. WAY more “wrist presence” than expected. Love this thing!

The folks at Monterey Watch Co have found a way to deliver affordable watches by an American company that rivals anything coming from overseas. With a wide range of dive and sports watches, all assembled in North Carolina. I haven't found another microbrand that can compete with their value, finishing, and unbelievable customer service. This is a watch brand worth keeping tabs on. Can't wait to see what they do next.
